About the Tigrett Award

While there are several awards presented at the Charity Gala, the highlight of the evening is the recognition of the Tigrett Award recipient. The Tigrett Award was named to honor the memory of a native Jacksonian, John Burton Tigrett. The award was endowed by a charitable gift from FedEx Founder, Fred Smith, to pay tribute to his long-time board member. Each year, the Tigrett Award recognizes a Tennessean who has made an impactful contribution to our state. Since the Tigrett Award was established in 2006, The Foundation’s Board of Trustees selects someone that has been a positive representation of the Volunteer State to the world.
