LIFELINE BLOOD SERVICES had a critical need, and the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation helped address it.
LIFELINE was recently presented with a financial gift for a valuable piece of new equipment: a professional medical-grade refrigerator with advanced monitoring and control.
Gina Humphreys, LIFELINE’s Director of Technical Services shares, "A blood sample is required to be retained on all donors from each donation in case additional testing needs to be performed. The new refrigerator will be used to store these retention samples for 7 weeks. It will also be used as a backup for blood bank reagents that are required to be stored at refrigerated temperatures.”

Today, LIFELINE provides blood services to 20 West Tennessee counties supplying 17 local hospitals and 14 air ambulances. Annually, the Center collects approximately26,000 blood products (red cell units, platelets, plasma, etc.) to meet the needs of patients. LIFELINE also provides reference lab and cross-matching services to healthcare facilities.
