Equipment Installed on Playground for All Children

Gabriel's Garden is becoming a reality thanks to many generous people. "We still have money left to raise to complete the project but we are thrilled that the playground equipment has arrived and is being installed," said Gabe's Mom Darlene Walden. Walden, who serves as chairperson of the Gabriel's Garden Committee.

The playground will be fully accessible by all children providing them a place to play together. Children with wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or no equipment at all will be able to play in a fun and exciting environment. The playground, located at North Park in Jackson, Tennessee, will be approximately 13,000 square feet of play surface. Donations from numerous sources have helped bring the playground to this point but donations are still needed to complete the job.

West Tennessee Healthcare and the Fisherman's Fund of the City of Jackson have each donated $100,000. The Jackson Civitan Club donated $10,000 and has been very instrumental in building and supporting this project. The Jack Hale Hayes Fund created by friends and family of the young child, donated $50,000. In-kind donations are also being provided by Hoyt Hayes Construction and Southern City Concrete. CareAll Inc., gave $5,000. Mid-South Recreation and West Tennessee Association for Childhood Education International each gave $2,500. Approximately $100,000 is needed. Donations may be made to Gabriel's Garden, c/o West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, 620 Skyline Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.
