Bowling Teams Sought for Fundraiser to Benefit Children

Strikes for Tikes is the perfect fund raising event-teams play and the kids win! This fun bowling event, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Jackson, is October 13, 2007 at the Jackson Bowling and Skating Family Fun Center and benefits the children at the Kiwanis Center for Child Development in Jackson. Teams of families, neighborhoods, businesses, churches, and local organizations are being formed now for this fun and special event. A team is a group of four people. Each team is encouraged to set a fund raising goal and elect a team captain. Children are welcome to participate and adaptive bowling equipment will be available for individuals with special needs. There will be activities for the whole family at the Strikes for Tikes event as well as food, drinks, and prizes.

"It's not about bowling, it's about the kids," said Ron Kwaisgroh, who is the Director of the Kiwanis Center. Bowlers will collect donations prior to the event and all those proceeds benefit children. The bowlers' efforts will raise money to provide educational and therapeutic services to local children with disabilities.

Kiwanis Center for Child Development has been caring for special needs children for decades. Hundreds of children are helped through pediatric physical, occupational, speech, and hydro therapy programs provided either at the Center or in homes. The Center also offers an early intervention program for a wide range of developmental delays for children birth through age three.
